Experience the Beauty of Veterans Sunset Park in Tell City
Nestled along the scenic Ohio River, Veterans Sunset Park continues to be one of Perry County’s most treasured destinations for both residents and visitors alike. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful riverside walk, a place to gather with family, or simply a front-row seat to one of Indiana’s most beautiful sunsets, this beloved Tell City park offers something for everyone.
Located near downtown Tell City, the park overlooks the Ohio River and features green space, playground equipment, picnic areas, benches, and the city’s historic murals. The popular River Walk Trail has long been a favorite for walkers, runners, and cyclists seeking a relaxing path along the waterfront.
Recently, the area received an exciting enhancement with the completion of the River Road and walking trail extension. The project expands connectivity along the riverfront while improving access for recreation and transportation throughout the community. The newly extended multi-use path adds approximately 1.5 miles to the existing trail system, creating even more opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy Tell City’s scenic river views and outdoor amenities.
To celebrate the completion of the long-anticipated River Road project, community leaders gathered for a ribbon cutting ceremony on May 21. Tell City Mayor Chris Cail joined community leaders, visitors and project partners to commemorate the milestone and recognize the years of collaboration that made the project possible. The completed roadway and trail improvements are expected to enhance safety, support economic growth, and further elevate quality of life in Perry County.
Veterans Sunset Park continues to serve as a welcoming gathering place where history, recreation, and natural beauty come together. From morning walks to evening sunsets over the Ohio River, it remains a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Perry County.
